With $2.2 billion French aid, Puducherry is first Smart City; Nagpur next in line

The French Government had earlier agreed to provide $2.2 billion assistance for Smart Cities project under which French development agency, AFD has already started working in this line beginning with Puducherry city, ahead of centre’s announcement of the official list of cities to be developed under the Smart City project. In the first phase, the agency is considering to focus on developing Puducherry, followed by Chandigarh and Nagpur in the second phase. AFD will provide technological support in the areas of water, sanitation, transport and waste management in these three cities.
