World Bank Keen to Fund Smart Cities, AMRUT

The World Bank is in discussion with the Indian government to lend funds at the initial stages of India’s ambitious smart cities and urban development projects. The centre has launched three major initiatives – Smart Cities Mission, Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) and Housing for All (Urban) to reduce problems of growing urbanisation and has further announced to spend $7.2 billion for Smart Cities Mission and another $7.5 billion for AMRUT that will cover 500 cities.
